Why this role exists

Turn the plan into shipped work

Tasken is an AI development company for marketing teams. We are now adding managed SEO services, and we need a hands-on consultant to lead delivery across our e-commerce client work.

The active client mix may change as the service grows. We care about reliable ownership and delivery, not filling a fixed number of weekly hours.

You will stay close to both the client and the implementation. Find the highest-value problems, explain the decision, get the changes shipped, measure what happened, and keep everyone clear on what comes next.

We care more about results you can explain than years on your CV.

The work

Client-facing and hands-on

Client leadership

  • Be the day-to-day SEO lead for assigned e-commerce client accounts.
  • Turn each site's highest-value problems into a 90-day plan with clear weekly priorities.
  • Run working and review calls, explain what the evidence means, and recommend the next decision in plain English.
  • Send a short weekly update that names what shipped, what changed, what is blocked, and what happens next.

Hands-on delivery

  • Audit and improve technical SEO, site structure, category and product pages, content, internal linking, schema, and authority work.
  • Do the work yourself where it makes sense. When a developer, writer, or designer is needed, write a useful brief, follow up, and check the finished work.
  • Track performance in Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs, or the tools you trust. Connect the work to qualified organic visibility, conversions, and revenue where the data allows it.
  • Turn successful work into a repeatable delivery process for future Tasken clients.
E-commerce SEO

Prioritize what can move the account

E-commerce SEO is a prioritization job. Start with the commercial pages and technical problems most likely to matter, get the change shipped, then measure it against a clear baseline.

  • Balance technical SEO, site structure, category and product pages, content, internal linking, schema, and authority work.
  • Choose priorities using impact, evidence, effort, and the client's ability to ship the change.
  • Give every meaningful action an owner, a date, a reason, and a result.
  • Repeat what works. Record weak results and change direction when the evidence does not hold up.
The standard

What good work looks like

  • Important fixes and pages get shipped instead of sitting in a slide deck.
  • Every project has priorities, owners, deadlines, and a clear next action.
  • Organic performance is measured against a real starting point.
  • Clients understand what changed, why it changed, and what happens next.
  • SEO work produces evidence that changes the next decision.
  • Problems are raised early. There are no surprises at the end of the month.
  • Targets are clear, but rankings, traffic, and revenue are never guaranteed.
Fit

You may be a good fit if

  • You can show e-commerce SEO work and separate your contribution from the team's.
  • You understand collection or category pages, product pages, faceted navigation, duplicate content, indexation, and internal linking.
  • You can work across technical, on-page, content, and off-page SEO, and you understand how the pieces affect each other.
  • You can manage a project, brief other contributors, and hold the next action without being managed task by task.
  • You can prioritize competing SEO opportunities using evidence and commercial value.
  • You use AI in your work, check its output, and know when human judgment is needed.
  • You write and speak clear English.
Useful extras

Helpful, not required

  • Experience with Shopify, WooCommerce, or another major e-commerce platform.
  • Experience with international or multilingual stores.
  • Experience with digital PR, programmatic SEO, or e-commerce conversion work.
  • Hands-on use of crawling tools, schema, analytics, log files, or site migrations.
What you get

Room to own and improve the work

  • An ongoing freelance engagement scoped around managing client accounts.
  • Live e-commerce work with access to the data and people needed to make changes.
  • Tasken's internal AI and SEO tools.
  • Direct contact with the founder and room to shape how the service is delivered as it grows.
  • More responsibility and client ownership when your work proves it is ready.
Final stage

A small paid trial

Shortlisted candidates complete a small, scoped exercise using a real project. It tests the same work the role requires, not puzzle solving or free client delivery.

  • Find and explain the highest-value priorities.
  • Choose one SEO action and explain how you would measure it.
  • Communicate the plan so another person can act on it.
  • The trial is paid whether or not we continue together.
